It still amazes me that some online poker players do not have a rakeback account. I am assuming that if you are reading this article that you already know what “rake” and “rakeback” mean, but let me quickly explain it, just to be sure.

When a hand of poker is played, a percentage of the total pot is taken by the online pokerroom that operates the game. That commission is known as “rake” and it’s the way that the pokerroom makes its money. If you play a hand, it means that some of your money will go to the poker operator in the form of rake. Now, if you play a lot of hands, you will contribute plenty of dollars towards that rake.

Now here’s where things get interesting. Some great souls, like those at Rakebrain.com, will make sure that you get a piece of your rake money back. Hence the term “Rakeback”. Could it be any simpler? Rakeback makes sure that you get your rake….back.

Imagine this scenario. You go to the supermarket a couple of times a month and you spend quite some dollars while there. Now imagine if that supermarket would offer to give you some of your money back at the end of the month. Would you say no? Would anyone say no?

Do you say no when the government gives you a tax return? Do you turn down a discount while shopping for that brand new plasma tv? No. You would not. You would take that money and run out of the store while giggling like a child.

You would gladly take your money because getting money back is great, in whichever way, shape or form that it may be. So why is it then that a lot of online poker players do not have rakeback accounts? If you’re playing at Full Tilt Poker for example, you could get 27% Full Tilt Rakeback. Ultimate Bet players can get 30% Ultimate bet Rakeback. I could keep going on but I think that you get where I’m going with this.

If you’re a high roller and you’re making a sweet living from playing online poker, I could understand that you don’t need rakeback. You probably swim around in cash already and getting 30% of your contributed rake means nothing to you. But for those “regular joes” out there (like me) who are just starting or who can’t live off of poker yet, it would be very dumb to not get some of your money back.

More money means playing more hands. More hands means more chances for you to win. More winnings mean you guessed it…even more money. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that picture. Your money is right there. All you have to do is sign up for a rakeback account and make sure that at least you get some of it back at the end of each month. Don’t you deserve it?

Poker is a game of skill with an element of luck. There are several deciding factors in poker on what makes a winning hand. A lot can be learned by playing on free poker sites to get adjusted to this game without spending anything. Let’s explore some of these factors and the effects they have on you as you learn poker.

We will start with one of the most aggravating things that can happen to you when you play poker. I am talking about those bad beats. Everyone has a bad beat story, and if you play poker for very long, you will have one too. It seems like the guy at the end of the table, just keeps busting you up all night long. He is playing hands you have been folding all night long, in an effort to play tight and not waste your chip stack. It seems like he just keeps on getting lucky, on the river of course. This can be one of the most irritating scenarios for a poker player. Whether you are playing in an online tournament, or in live casino play this is a common problem for many players. Bad beats are common inpoker, and you might as well learn early on how to best deal with them. Some people get so annoyed, that it affects their play for the rest of the night. This is called being on tilt, or steaming and it is never a good situation for a poker player. The best advice I have on this subject, is a friend once told me, “Don’t let it be about your ego.” By this he meant that because I hated to lose any pot, I was taking it personally when those bad beats happened. When you take a bad beat, and someone pulls a big pot against you or knocks you out of a poker tournament with pure luck, the only thing you can do is smile and play on. It is not easy to do, but what is the point of wasting the rest of your chip stack just because you are mad?

Every once in a while, it will swing your way and you too will get lucky and win a pot you weren’t favored to win. When that happens, smile and drag your chips. You now have a brag story to tell. The truth about online poker is that there is variance that will help determine if you win or lose. There are no absolutes in poker, and sometimes you can win or lose against the odds. It is important to remember that the good, solid poker players will, over time, make more money in the end than loose, aggressive players that play every pot with wild abandon.

In Omaha Poker starting hands each player is dealt 4 cards. The best starting hands in Omaha poker are those where the 4 hole-cards work in a collaborative way, providing you multiple ways to hit the flop.

The best hand at showdown comprises of exactly two from the hand and three from the board to make the best five-card hand.

In order to understand, Omaha Starting hands, it is important to presume that all the opponents have the same six combinations of the two showdown cards. You then think back to check what cards could you possibly need to maximize your chances against all the players. Depending on the number of players this could be six, twelve or even twenty-four combinations working against you. Given the enormity of these combinations, the likelihood of having hole cards to make straights and flushes are higher and those with only high value, much lower. At any given flop, in a multi-way pot, the chances of flush and straight draws are high. And at least one opponent is likely to have a hand that works well with the board. This is why the best starting hands in Omaha need to have cards, which work collaboratively.

To illustrate, 6-7-8-9 has the chance to make more straights depending on the flop, while 2-5-9-10 can only make the low or the mid-straight and may be open to risk to higher straights. Another good staring hand in Omaha is having suited cards, preferably with an ace, which will allow you to make the nut flush.

High-pair hands also form good starting hands in Omaha. A-A-10-J of two suits is a great hand, as not only do you have a strong pair, there are many flops which you could have a nut hand or strong draw to the nuts. Moreover, if the A-J and A-10 combinations are suited, you have absolutely hit the best starting hand in Omaha. Double suited high pairs such as A-A-K-K are also considered good starting hands.
