Through their generosity and diligence, both gentleman have teamed up with PreventCancer.org to sponsor an online poker tournament and contribute funds in defeating cancer. This deadly disease has touched so many people around the world, directly and indirectly, like the owner of Just Play Poker.
Asked to comment on the upcoming event, Paul Ellis stated that “his goal is to receive 500 participants and to raise $2,500 for the Bad Beat on Cancer. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we exceed that number, and I hope and pray that we do.”

Here are the Bad Beat on Cancer Tournament Details! Register early and pass on the information to anyone who plays online poker. Remember, 50% of the register’s fee will go directly to PreventCancer.org, $5 for every person!

About Bad Beat on Cancer
During the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP), poker professionals Phil Gordon and Rafe Furst started a drive to help fund cancer prevention research and education – by playing poker.

They asked their friends to pledge just one percent of their winnings at the WSOP Championship Event to the Prevent Cancer Foundation as a tax-deductible donation, resulting in enough money to fund a research grant for an entire year.

Since its inception six years ago, Bad Beat on Cancer (BBoC) has raise over $2 million for cancer prevention research and has grown to include other major poker tournaments, leagues, and home games. The initiative has inspired amateurs and pros alike to pledge one percent of their winnings for life, including stars Phil Hellmuth, Jr., Andy Bloch, Annie Duke, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Paul Wasicka, and Dennis Phillips, to name just a few. Plus many others!

In what analysts are calling the most astonishing event in the Twitter Poker Tour Europe’s long history, jordie21 celebrated a victory that have many Las Vegas odds makers puzzled. “To put it simply, a combination of unbelievable raises, horrendous calls, and blind luck,” stated Mr. C. W. Flea, PablosPlace.com owner, “were the three keys to his victory.” Several viewers of the event concurred with Mr. Flea’s statement.

Many of the European players were absolutely disgusted with the odds that he was hitting at, with one player actually disqualifying himself after vomiting at the table after jordie21 hit another all-in one outer. “He could of played with an Uno deck,” a livid Mr. Z. Trap stated, “because it didn’t matter, it was going to hit. It must have been amateur night.”

Twitter Poker Tour Chairman, Geoff Manning, could not be reached for comment.

Geoff Manning

The Twitter Poker Tour continues to emerge as a tour de force among the weekly online poker community. The man behind the tour’s success is none other than Board Chairman, Geoff Manning, who never stops at promoting the unique qualities of the TPT. His dedicated work was recognized by the The World Poker Cartel, who selected him as a finalist for the 2009 Poker Executive Award.

What was your reaction to being selected as a 2009 Poker Executive Finalist?
It was an honor to see my name listed alongside some of the best in the business. I just want to say that it is a privilege to run the TPT and I have met many great people over the past 4 seasons.

Recently, the TPT teamed up with PreventCancer.org to put a Bad Beat on Cancer. How did the event go? Is their a future of promotion between the two organizations?
The Bad Beat on Cancer event was incredible. We set a lofty goal for ourselves to have 100 participants and we just met that with 103. In all honesty, I only posted the event on the website and tweeted the heck out of it. All the praise goes to Paul Ellis (coolwhipflea) of PablosPlace.com. Paul is a huge supporter of the cause and a huge supporter of the TPT. He worked with Rafe Furst to get this event in motion and all credit goes to him!

Has the TPT been in contact with any poker professionals to help promote the tour?
We try to reach out to a few pro’s this season and have a good relationship that we hope to grow in the coming months. There are a lot of pro’s on Twitter now, so hopefully the TPT will strike a chord with them and they can help us promote it.

What has been the biggest surprise(s) since you started the tour?
I think the biggest surprise since the tour started is how well it has taken off. At times we feel like it isn’t growing fast enough but then reality sets in. We are in the summer time during some tough economic times and we still get 30 players each week. I’d call that a success!

Can you shed any light for Season 5? What do you have on tap?
We are in the planning stages for Season5 and we are tossing around a few ideas in the TPT Member Forum. We are considering changing up the “season” model where we have 12 weekly events to make up one season. I feel this may provide a barrier to entry for some that want to get involved mid-season. They may feel like they are too late and can’t compete.

We may move to a monthly system where we keep a leader board for each month and award prizes to those players that finish atop the leader board each month. Then we could have a Tournament of Champions at the end of the year. Just one of the many ideas we are considering at the moment. We are always open to new ideas!

AUSTIN, TX , August 18, 2009 – PokerPlasm, Inc. Public Relations Director, Mr. Steve Carse, issued a statement early Tuesday morning claiming that, “Mr. C.W. Flea’s twitter statement on August 17th 2009 was false and slanderous. In no way is Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Trevor Holewinski, the same person as Corporate Relocation Expert, Mr. Sonny Partude. Mr. Flea, owner of Pablosplace.com, should feel ashamed for asserting such a statement and is lucky PokerPlasm, Inc. does not file a lawsuit for libel. We want a complete retraction of the said statement and an apology for damaging the corporation’s public image.”

Steve Carse

Inside sources reported that the PokerPlasm, Inc. Public Relations team was working on several stories to combat Mr. Flea’s damaging statement. At the time of this release, Mr. Flea or Pablosplace.com has not issued any statement, retraction, or apology.

Both magazines ceased print versions in March 2009. The company is privately held so no financial statements have been made public.
