Nick Chlebeck

asian-poker-tour.gifThe Asian Poker Tour is about to begin the 2008 year with a huge bang! Manilla, Seoul, Macau, Singaporeare are all on the schedule for some exciting poker tournaments.

To talk about the tour, Nick Chlebeck, Online Operations Manager, has gladly accepted an invitation to answer questions for PokerPlasm. If you have additional questions, please post them in the comments section and Nick will be glad to reply.

If you could, give our readers a little history/foundation on the Asian Poker Tour?
The first Asian Poker Tour was held in Singapore in 2006 with over 300 players participating in the main event. We [Asian Logic Ltd] acquired the Asian Poker Tour in February 2008 with plans to make it the largest poker tour in Asia!

How many players do you expect at the 4 events in 2008? Prize pools?
We are anticipating 400+ at each event. And guaranteeing USD$1,000,000 for each event.

Can you tell us which professionals have committed to this tour?
We are in discussion with many top class professional players and are finalising deals right now, we have Matt Savage confirmed as the tournament director.

Do you have any television contracts so poker fans can watch?
Again we are in discussions with two TV company’s regarding the production of the APT, however between us three ONLY we are probably not going to be able to get this done in time, at minimum we will be able to get this virally online streamed in our websites and others.

Where do you see the Asian Poker Tour in 5 years? Do you see it expanding into Australia, New Zealand, and other parts of Asia?
We see expansion within 5 years - just next year the tour will have 6 events seeing the tour expanding into Australia and Japan.

Do you play poker regularly. And if yes, for how long?
All the committed members of the APT operation are experienced poker players and have earned their spurs playing online and offline across the world.

What is your favorite game? Why? Your most comfortable blind structure?
We have a mixed bunch of players between us and some of us prefer No Limit Hold Em but others prefer a nice juicy Pot Limit Omaha game. $2/$4 and above.

Which professionals do you enjoy talking to you regularly? Any funny stories/advice?
Dave Ulliott, Dave Colclough, Phil Ivey, I don’t think she is considered professional but we all have a lot of respect for Shannon Elizabeth and would love to have her at our event.

One of the team members was sat next to Mike Matusow at last years WSOP and lost a prop bet that Mike the Mouth wouldn’t perform a football tackle on Mr Peanut!!! Of course Mike being born with no voids or verbal boundaries he stood right up and tackled him in front of everyone. Mr. Peanut was not happy to say the least.

What is your biggest poker pet peeve? Any pre-game rituals?
People who are not content with just winning, the players who like to berate other players or tell them how they played it wrong etc etc??? Also SLOW ROLLING is probably the worst thing someone can do and easiest way to lose respect.

Pre game ritual is to get plenty of rest and eat well.

What would be the one piece of advice you would give to someone to improve their game, specifically to live poker?
Watch everyone and trust no one!
