Action on Day 2 at the North American Poker Tour in Los Angeles unveiled an answer to one of the greatest mysteries of poker. “Minneapolis” Jim Meehan began drinking shots of whiskey early in the day and continued until he was properly sauced. The professional poker player who has been playing since the 1960’s revealed through a number of outburst and drunken slurs, “grrr..rarh…dqunk…SONNY…grrr….rawr…” From this series of drunken slurs, it was concluded that in the 70’s, a random affair with Street 3’s mom produced an offspring that the couple called Steven.

Rumors about Meehan being the father of Carse began swirling in a drunken day at Binions, Las Vegas in April 2003, at the 34th World Series of Poker. In the $2,000 No Limit Hold’em event, Meehan made a final table, en route to winning a bracelet. Kathy Liebert, who finished 9th in that event, was also on hand for the NAPT – Los Angeles during day 2 of the NAPT, and was intimately familiar with Meehan and his drinking. “He’s not as bad as he used to be,” says Liebert at the NAPT. “He’s had some other stories, but I’ll say that he’s not as bad as he used to be.”

While Liebert did not go on to say that Meehan did in fact sire Carse, it can only be intimated that from the “dqunk Sonny” comment, that Meehan was confirming his fatherhood of the often “dqunk” Street 3. At this moment, Steven Carse was unavailable for comment, and Jim Meehan was passed out.

In what may go down as one of the greatest deceptions in the history of mankind, several sources have confirmed that online poker legend “Street 3” is actually “Isildur1”, and not Victor Blom like so many people have believed. Long believed to be a money gifting malcontent on both twitter and in online poker, “Street 3” caught the eye of prison employees this past week when investigations revealed that the Oklahoma native had taken a Swiss address following a recent trip to the The Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City.

Several witnesses observed “Street3” (aka Steve Carse, aka “Isildur1”) last Wednesday, entering the FTC Oklahoma facility located on the western edge of Will Rogers World Airport, just 3 miles west of Interstate 44 and 4 miles south of Interstate 40. “Apparently Mr. Carse was “visiting” an inmate for a routine conjugal visit” says FTC guard George “Pee Wee” Herman. “When strange noises arose from the visitation, secret cameras and microphones were used to ascertain the entirety of the conversation (as well as to be used for the enjoyment of us other guards).”

While the videos were too graphic in nature to release to the general public, transcripts from the “conversations” were made public, and his “dealings” with his Swiss counterpart were revealed. “The two men were speaking about the best ways to win money, and Mr. Carse indicated that he had a poker account that had more money in it than Michael Mizrachi had won at the this year’s World Series of Poker” says Herman. “The swiss dude said that he played his cards a lot more like Fillipo Candio did, and that if he was gonna drop all of his money to some “Cheeseburger guy” then he should use his address.”

While it’s still unclear what Herman’s message exactly means, the inferences that came from the audio were unmistakable. “The trouble is, we don’t know what agency is the appropriate agency to handle this particular incident” says Herman. “We’re not sure if this is a crime against the U.S., the State of Oklahoma, or if it’s really just a fun time that us guards got a good giggle out of.”

Charges have yet to be filed, however it seems that it is only a matter of time before the criminals will be arrested. Mr. Carse was unavailable for comment.

Cancer. It’s a word that immediately draws heartache to all that hear it. Upon the mention of cancer, everyone immediately thinks of someone they know that was affected by cancer in some way or another. During the 2003 World Series of Poker, poker professionals and good friends Phil Gordon and Rafe Furst had an idea that resulted in people taking action against cancer.

Phil and Rafe began a drive to help fund cancer prevention and research by asking their friends to donate just 1% of their winnings at the WSOP Main Event to the Prevent Cancer Foundation as a tax-deductible donation. Their efforts raised enough money to fund a research grant for an entire year.

7 years later, Bad Beat on Cancer (BBoC) has raised more than $2 million for cancer prevention research and has grown in every level to include players donating 1% of their winnings from virtually every tournament played around the globe, all the way down to leagues and home games. The list of players inspired to donate 1% of their career tournament earning ranges from the likes of the most notable pro’s (Such as Phil Hellmuth Jr., Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, Annie Duke, Chris Ferguson, and more) all the way to some of the most competitive home games, just like the Twitter Poker Tour.

On Sunday, February 21st, the TPT will be conducting its 3rd Charity Poker Tournament to benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation, pledging to yet again put another Bad Beat on Cancer. This time, there will be 3 different tournaments with 3 different buy in amounts beginning within 15 minutes of each other. This will offer players to compete against some of the top pro’s on Full Tilt Poker for cash and prizes, and at the same time, raise funds to put a Bad Beat on Cancer, all at a buy in level that best suits their bankroll.
