The Value Bet

Recognizing that you are not always going to be rolling in chips after hitting a monster flop is one of the ugly truths of poker. Focus on reading your opponents and the ability to put them on specific hands. Then, when you do hit that monster, use value betting to get the most that you can out of your opponent without forcing them to fold. The amount that any given opponent will be willing to pay for a certain hand will greatly vary from person to person, situation to situation; so keep yours eyes wide and remember just how much somebody will be willing to “donate.”
